RRC’s research into the ski industry during the 2020-2021 season showed impressive results. This season was one of the busiest seasons ever with people feeling a need to get outdoors during the pandemic. Overall NSAA data shows a total of 59 million skier and snowboarder visits across U.S. ski areas. This is up by 51 million from the previous season, which was shortened by the pandemic. The research shows that things may be returning back to normal; the visitation this year is similar to the 2018-19 season, pre-pandemic. Weekday visitation is also up 48% compared to previous years. There is also an increase in Gen Z visitation by 34% showing good signs for the growth of the industry going forward.
